TEF CANADA EXAM (Preparatory Course)

We at The French School help you clear your TEF exam. The TEF Canada is an international test  for Francophones and non-native speakers designed to assess their level of proficiency and skills in French.
The TEF Canada is recognised as official proof of language proficiency by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) as well as the Quebec Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities (MICC) for permanent residency applications, Quebec Selection Certificate applications and Canadian citizenship applications.

The TEF (Test d’Évaluation de Français) exam assesses Our proficiency in the French language. The exam consists of several sections, each designed to evaluate different language skills. The exact content and format may vary slightly depending on the version of the exam (TEF Canada, TEF Quebec, etc.), but here is a general overview:

Listening Comprehension (Compréhension Orale): We will listen to a series of audio recordings, such as conversations, news reports, and lectures, and answer questions based on what We hear. This section assesses Our ability to understand spoken French.

Reading Comprehension (Compréhension Écrite): We will read a variety of texts, such as articles, advertisements, and literary extracts, and answer questions to demonstrate Our understanding of the written language. This section tests Our knowledge of French vocabulary and grammar. We may be asked to fill in the blanks, choose the correct word or phrase to complete a sentence, or identify grammatical errors.

Written Expression (Expression Écrite): We will be required to write one or more essays or reports on a given topic. This section assesses Our ability to express Ourself clearly and coherently in writing.

Oral Expression (Expression Orale): We will participate in a face-to-face or telephone interview with an examiner. We will be asked a series of questions and will have to respond orally, demonstrating Our ability to communicate effectively in spoken French.

The TEF exam is scored on a scale ranging from A1 (beginner) to C2 (proficient), based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Each section of the exam is graded separately, and Our overall score is determined by Our performance across all sections.

While there isn’t an official syllabus provided for TEF exam preparation, We can use the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) guidelines to structure Our study plan. Here’s a general outline based on the CEFR levels:

A1 (Beginner): At this level, focus on basic vocabulary, simple sentence structures, and everyday phrases. Practice listening to and understanding simple conversations, and reading basic texts.

A2 (Elementary): Expand Our vocabulary and grammar knowledge to include more complex sentences and expressions. Practice listening to longer conversations and reading texts with more detail.

B1 (Intermediate): Work on expanding Our vocabulary further, including idiomatic expressions and more nuanced grammar structures. Practice listening to various types of spoken French and reading longer texts, such as articles and short stories.

B2 (Upper-Intermediate): Focus on improving Our ability to understand and produce complex texts and conversations. Practice listening to lectures and discussions, and reading articles and reports on a wide range of topics.

C1 (Advanced): Refine Our language skills to include more sophisticated vocabulary and structures. Practice listening to and participating in debates and discussions, and reading complex texts, such as novels and academic articles.

C2 (Proficient): Aim for near-native proficiency, with a focus on fine-tuning Our language skills. Practice listening to and understanding a wide range of spoken French, and reading complex and specialized texts.

In addition to these general guidelines, it’s also important to familiarize Ourself with the format of the TEF exam and practice with sample questions and past papers. We at The French School provide preparatory courses specifically designed for the TEF exam, we provide guidance and practice materials tailored to the exam’s requirements.
